I don't mean to sound stupid, BUT is the ricter scale also in metric? That's a serious question lol. I don't see any 7s in the picture and the distance isn't in miles.

Richter scale is logarithmic. Each whole number increase is 10x larger than the previous. So a 7 is 10x stronger than a 6, etc. Or at least that is how it used to be before they changed it a slight bit. Still the basis of it though.
