Why is it not the soil then? To suggest that animals that almost never consume other animals just decided to start one day is bonkers. They lack nutrients, or have a parasite that lacks nutrients that they are no longer getting from their environment. The animals in the Savannah that have been noted acting like this do it towards the ends of droughts when their normal food supply is limited.
You are getting awfully upset that the soil can be supplemented in a way that would produce more nutrient rich food for the animals so that they wouldn't need to eat other animals, that is all on you my friend.
I am a meat eater because I know it is coming.
This is absolutely a case of poor soil management and that poor animal is being abused. It effects most of the world so that a cartel can be maintained over the food supply. Meanwhile the fossil fuels industry sells us their unusable chemicals to supplement instead of the natural way. Plants need so much more than just water and sunlight, if left alone they can thrive in a location because nothing is moving the nutrients away and probably have a decent microbiology to boot helping them power along below the surface.
Now that I think on it that poor turtle probably just isn't being fed right. probably on some crap feed. Would his area be able to contain all of his natural diet or is it being supplemented? If he is eating food from a grocery store then it is defiantly very low in nutrients.
Is that it, are you with BIG AG?
This is 100% idiocracy... I am the dumbest person I know screaming that we have got to fix the damn soil.... FUG!
You have shown off quite a bit.
