I am writing a religious exemption to work, they are challenging those who write it by saying “well your faith or your pastor/priest accept the vaccine” and my true argument to that is that a priest or a place of worship does not define my personal relationship with god. The priest and church do help me when I feel down or forget, but the do not define the way I communicate to the one and only.
I need a Bible verse (or multiple useful ones too) that explains that Me and God is not Me -> Church -> Priest -> God.
You absolutely do need the church. It is prescribed throughout the Bible. The church is not just about your relationship with Jesus Christ, but it's about your relationship with the body of Christ and stirring each other to love and good works.
Hebrews 10:23-25 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
1 Peter 5:2-4 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.
1 Corinthians 12:24-27 But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
Correct. The church (physical building) does not determine how I pray and when I pray or even where I need to pray. I do go to church, every single Sunday if a am not working, but my priest should not tell me how I want to pray with god
