The thing with rabies is if you do actually get it (there’s no test that I know of) and don’t take the shots, it is certain death and supposed to be a highly painful one at that.
It is easier to find in animals in warmer climates, still not that common, but the certain painful death is why it is so highly monitored.
Except that there's no way to know that the shots helped. You just have to have faith and believe in the science.
I don't doubt that you can get an infection by being bitten by a wild animal, and I'm sure you could also get infected by parasites.
There is however zero scientifically valid evidence of any virus being responsible, nor is there any way to know that the vaccine for it would help at all if you got such an infection.
