Every 80 years or so it seems like the evil in this world almost wins just to be knocked back down by some good force. That alone allows me to look forward to the good that will hopefully reveal itself soon.

I'm not saying the other side didn't do evil things, but I don't think you can say that the "good side" won the world wars or the civil war.
I mean, we nuked two civilian cities for shits and giggles. Not to mention the fire bombing campaigns which were arguably as bad. At least they hadn't already offered their surrender at that point.
And the only claim to being good that the North in the civil war had is it's opposition to slavery. Considering the rest of the world ended slavery without killing a million of their own citizens.. I'm not sure that out weighs the death and destruction they wrought.
The idea of good and bad in war is naive. It's almost always bad and worse. And there's no telling which side your on.
Yeah, perhaps I should have said “perceived good” or just 2 opposing forces.
Dont forget who gets to write the history, no matter who won those wars you would have been taught they where the righteous victors.
