This review is stupid. I watched and quite liked this show, only because the creator of Channel Zero was involved, which was the best horror anthology show I've ever seen. The show is weird, gross, and fucked up, but just because the weird, gross, fucked up shit happens in hollywood doesn't mean it's about hollywood. It's too surreal to be a "celebration of occult hollywood". The main character is literally a descendant of a giant white tiger goddess that was turned into a couch, and the witch is a several thousand year old body jumper. That's not occult, it's just silly.
I had to stop reading your comment because I’m in the middle of the series and don’t want spoilers, but I agree. It doesn’t seem to glamorize the sickness at the heart of Hollywood at all. It’s repulsive and their pride and lust for fame ruins more lives than they imagined. Everything they do is destructive and selfish. So unless the show does a 180 in the last couple episodes, I’d say it seems more like an exposé on Hollywood than trying to lure more people in. If you like this show, also check out the movie Starry Eyes. Similar concept of demons running the show in Hollywood. Almost seems more like people in the know that reject it.
Oh sorry, I hope you didn't read too far in my comment! Also, yes, I failed to mention the point you made, that the show is actually more of a repudiation of the sickness of hollywood rather than a celebration of it. I felt it did a good job of showing hollywood's seedy underbelly rife with corruption, backstabbing, the abuse and manipulation of others to rise the ladder yourself, etc.
