I just heard from some family down in Indianapolis that several lawsuits against medical groups has been lost. (Major hospitals, IU medical complex, etc) People are getting fired or forced into jabs without legal recourse. Mask mandates are being pushed hard.
Northern Indiana, my kids go to a private school and we're back to pre covid, trace is only a courtesy (few paranoid parents still), no requirements to do anything about them.
Public school is another matter entirely. They're full mask again, trace quarantine, athletes threatened to be dropped if they protest. Parents being ignored.
Im not in the school system, but this affects over 6000 kids, it sucks!
Southwest Indiana is mixed. The public schools are jacked - mine got sent home because he had close contact with someone and his mask was under his nose... Businesses? They don't give a SH!T! The only business in a town of 150,000 that cares and stresses masks is Walmart - imagine that! People still walk in defiantly without them and do their business. It's glorious:) Indiana as a whole needs to get on board with Florida though ASAP! People are losing it! The local hospitals are KILLING people that is the only thing that is keeping the fear somewhat alive.
Adding to the previous response - I personally know and have read obituaries of people (young and old) who have died after getting the VAX in my area. I'm talking double digits that I know about. One obituary point blank said "...fell ill after receiving the COVID19 vaccine.." The family wanted everyone to know how he died in his obituary. What a statement.
South Central has been ok. I and many others here have never given any sheets about masks or shots. we have gone everywhere and anywhere we wanted. No one has the balls to say something for fear of poking the bear. They just harass the school kids with this crap. I believe IU has a large foothold on the medical/ hospitals in the state (they're as liberal as it gets). Don't give up, just because you don't see all of us, we are all patiently waiting in the hills my friend.
The suburbs of Indianapolis are whack. My job requires a mask for everyone regardless of vaccination. Lots of stores requiring them now as well. What the Biden voters didn't realize is that anywhere u go in Indiana there's never going to be more of them. No one follows their retarded rules.
Indiana was one of the first to do the school voucher system, just didnt make a big stink about it (except teachers who hated it). This year it went way up, so some people get a free ride to private school.
There are lots of scholarships across the state too, so most people in our area dont pay much to go.
Mine have been private school all the way, k-12. A couple years we paid <$96/mo, another year we didn't pay anything (rough years financially, so they kicked in more). Even if we were rich, ( we're not) we'd still get $500/semester for voucher and a small scholarship, IIRC.
If you haven't yet, check it out. Its one thing the governors did right in the last decade.
And yes, we still pay taxes. But, the voucher diverts much of the funds to our school.
Some people sacrifice a lot to put their kids in private school. Doesn’t make them rich. But that also depends on what you think is rich? In northern IN, it’s just outside of Chicago so somewhat expensive to live. Housing has gone thru the roof since everyone is trying to escape IL to NW IN.
Most private schools have endowments for students who can't afford to go there normally. They're distributed via scholarships, etc.
