Hey I remember some of this. When she talks lightbulbs went off in my head. I remember them telling us we've changed to outcome based education. Sounds good but we didnt know what the hell that was. I remember a test thinking it was the usual kind of test, thinking those true-false questions were trick questions. After the test I thought it was a piece of cake but of course didnt realize it was a test of my character not my knowledge.
This brings to mind a story in my family. My cousin was told in 1st grade she will be an electrical engineer. All classes were geared to that end and anything like geography, history, language was eliminated. At 12th grade she was a degreed electrical engineer. Problem was the soviet govt had too many elec engineers and had to hire her (and others) because it would look bad. When the soviet union fell apart she struck out on her own and ---dont laugh, this is true --- she started a kolbassi factory. When a govt collapses so does its economy and people were hungry. She ended up 'filthy rich'. When my mom went to visit she had limos at her call. Champagne and caviar. A festival type party at moms village, bands, catering, everything.

So who wants government controlled education?
