I subscribe to the idea that the mark won't be a physical or extremely obvious mark.
Most people go by this verse in Revelation:
"It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads," Rev 13:16
However, looking forward a seal of God is mentioned, similar to how the mark is described
Then I looked, and behold, the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His name and the name of His Father written on their foreheads. (Rev 14:1)
I believe it's going to be much more deceptive and not just a physical mark, but rather something that will make the people subscribe to a system that purely benefits Lucifer - all wrapped up in something that Christians will also be fooled by, as described by the mention false prophets in Revelation
