I remember when I was in 3rd or 4th grade… the seatbelt laws. Obviously too young to be into politics, I still remember thinking it was crazy that someone could tell you what to do in your own car. That has always stuck with me and was the beginning of the government overreach in my mind. There were probably things that happened before that, but in my life that was the first big one.
It's also the first one that really stuck with me I was in my 20s at the time.
I remember being so angry that my choice was taken away from me, I debated with a friend of mine who was a church elder, instead of agreeing with me he kept giving me reasons to comply. It still didn't stop me from being angry about it.
He and his wife were good people but they just didn't have the same fighting spirit I've always had.
You must be the same age as me. Cuz I have the same story.
My car is an extension of my home.government has no authority there.
Driving a car is not a right. I suppose on private land you should be able to do as you wish but once you get on the roads all the rules apply. You're not a sovereign citizen and you effectively agreed to follow the rules when you got your license.
The government gives you the license and they can take it away. They own the roads and thus they make the rules when you're on them.
Keep telling yourself that. Government has no business in my car or my home.
Your home doesn't travel on roads owned by the government.
How does the government pay for the roads? With our money, they work for us we don't work for them.
We own the roads not the government, people need to realize this.
It's not just about you. It's about the guy you just killed with your limp, ragdolled body flying out of your car at 60 mph right into him.
And that has happened maybe one time. Maybe we should all walk around in inflatable impact suits. Also, I think you need a vaccine.
Seatbelt laws and other road laws are not governmental overreach. There's not much more to it.
A seatbelt law is not a road law. There is literally nothing more to that. Smart boy.
