Where are the whistleblowers? Surely there were people on that flight that know they were diverted? Ground crew? Hell, why is the copilot keeping his mouth shut? I just don't get the mass obedience and submission.

Seniority based system. Copilot definitely moved up one number! Seniority determines everything through a bidding process- which aircraft, which position, which base, monthly schedule and vacation. Seniority is massively important for quality of life.
