I've looked for a good explanation of the shortages, but really haven't found one satisfactory. Currently nurses are getting sign-on bonuses of $10k, $15k, or more. We are short 80k truck drivers. Fed Ex will be hiring tens of thousands during the Christmas season. National Guard is driving school buses or schools just cut out bus routes. McDs is paying big bucks and still can't get staff, as well as most other restaurants, etc. Can all of these staff shortages be explained by people who don't want to get the s#ot? If not, what else explains it?

Yanno I wonder about that too and not just nurses and drivers. I'm a maintenance mechanic for a large company ( for my area ,) about 500 employees. We don't have a mask mandate nor vaxx mandate. But for a year we couldn't hire anyone. After the federal government stopped paying the extra 300 a week in unemployment my company got all excited. Thinking we would get people to come and work. But ABSOLUTELY NOT " we have gotten a few , but we are still very very short handed. They are offering a sign on bonus and I'm clueless to where the hell everyone is. I know they are not dead because all the roads have shit tons of cars. More than before covid on my commute. So I ask my self daily. Where are all these people driving too and does anyone work anymore .it's truly an upside down world
Yes!! Exact same situation here. No more unemployment, but we can't even eat inside restaurants because they don't have enough staff. Some nurses are getting a $10k bonus for a 6 week contract. And we haven't had any staff deaths at my work, several hundred people, yet from the vacks. I'd really like to know what is causing this shortage.
It is just crazy. We will tour / hire 10 and maybe 3 stay and with in a few months one or two actually stay
