I know this is a controversial opinion, but I don’t believe the Freemasons to exactly be the bad guys their cultural reputation paints the out to be. In the 1700s it was used as an apparatus to Christianity and mostly was the teachings of symbolism/hidden knowledge and how to “spot” Satan in the economy, which was eventually infiltrated by Satan much like the Catholic Church.

Do some research on Rosslyn Chapel (1400s) in Scotland. Lots of Freemasonic, Templar, and pagan symbols in it. Christian symbols? Uh, not so much.
