Basically the more safety gear in the car the more reckless and inattentive the driver becomes, the addition of a seatbelt and airbag etc just about offsets the increase in dangerous driving that it encourages, pedestrians do not however get the luxury of using your airbag when they're ran over but ofc suggesting that we remove safety features from cars in order to improve safety is one of those things that are politically impossible.
