It used to be banned it wasn't until 1996 that they started allowing pharmaceutical advertizing.

Coincidentally it started with Pfizer advertising an arthritis medicine for dogs Rimadyl.

I know this because I worked for an inbound call center and we took calls to send out brochures for this product.
