So yesterday I started feeling nauseous, and then around dinner time started getting soreness and chills. Was going to tough it out and go to work anyway because I don’t want to deal with “you need to get a covid test” (never have, don’t plan to) “or stay out of the office for 10 days per state rules” (I have stuff to do there next week).
After a shower got a wave of hot and nausea and Decided today would be miserable in the office and that id call in. What would you tell your boss in this situation? I already had food poisoning this summer so don’t want to lie about that. Was going to go with lack of sleep but was wondering if you guys had anything better?
Fair question. Before covid it was definitely like that, no questions asked. The only time I’ve called in since was right before a scheduled vacation and for that they want a doctors note. So it may still be. But also I work with idiots who might like the assurance that they aren’t exposed or whatever. I have a good relationship with my managers and don’t want to appear secretive all of a sudden.
Some bigger companies have partnered with health services and you have to fill out a questionnaire on an app daily before going into work. This has been hell for the restaurant industry bc millennial dont want to work as is but still want to keep their job so they check off a covid symptom anytime they want a day off... which is always!
