The only difference between the NIV and the Jehovah's Witnesses Bible?
The NIV has footnotes identifying some of the verses they've removed.
Here's Acts 8:36-38 from the NIV-
Acts 8:36-38 (NIV)
36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” [37] [c] 38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him.
What happened to verse 37?
Now read the same passage in the KJV.
Acts 8:36-38 (KJV)
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
So if you read the NIV, the Ethiopian eunuch never gets an answer to his question unless you read the footnote, and it's a very important answer.
If you don't believe Jesus is the Son of God with all your heart, you aren't ready to be baptized.
What's stopping you from getting baptized if you read the NIV other than a lack of water?
Water went away with pentecostal. None of the fifteen receiving the Holy Spirit that day had water present. Theybwere baptized with spirit and by fire. They also spoke with tongues as we should too.
Not sure what you're talking about.
Acts 2:1-8
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
The apostles had all been baptised already before this happened. And the Holy Spirit gave them the ability to preach in a language everyone could understand, regardless of their mother tongue.
And the gift of the Holy Spirit didn't stop the apostles from baptizing people with water that very same day.
Acts 2:37-41
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
P.S. If people are babbling and it's not understandable by all, it's not the gift of tongues spoken of in Scripture. Remember that.
JW's deny the diety of Jesus Christ, say he was hung on a post, not a cross, and deny the existence of Hell. They are a non christian cult. Run, don't walk, to the nearest exit if you are a member. You can often tell a non christian cult by their avoidance of the cross. Ya, that is you too mormons.
