We are born into a fallen world. We are all the off-spring of Adam, and Romans 5:19 says, "For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners". So we are all sinners. Romans 3:23 says, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God".
There is no dispute about original sin or that we are all sinners. It is the remedy to our condition that is of dispute. The second half of Romans 5:19 says, "so also through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. The 'One' is Jesus Christ, and He made it abundantly clear on who will save us. In John 14:6 Jesus says, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me."
Roman's 10:9-13 says " for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
The Bible is clear on the way to salvation. The RCC has made required sacraments the way of salvation. Through a system of works a person can be saved. But the Bible say the opposite. Ephesian 2:8-9 say, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
Did you see that "NOT OF WORKS", which means, a series of sacraments cannot save a person. No amount of Masses, or alms, or contrition can save a person. Only the gift of faith from God can save you... or me ...or anyone.
I left off verse 9 of Romans 10:9-13 above which says, " that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
