Dark to Light

Why did Q repeatedly post Ephesians 6:10-18 and remind us that our battle is against Satan and spiritual forces of darkness?

You are not going to hear what I’m about to point out in your advent service. The question is why?

How does this tie in with Christmas?

Isaiah 9:2 and following is a well known prophecy of the birth of Christ. People who walked in darkness will see a great light. What was the darkness they walked in?

Spiritual darkness. The occult presence was heavy. Baal worship and child sacrifice dominated the day. Satan worship. How do we know this? Look at the chapter before…chapter 8 verses 19 to 22. The people were consulting mediums and spirits. It was in this context the prophecies of the coming Messiah were given. The promise of Jesus brought freedom, light and hope.

Look at Micah chapter 5 verse 2 which prophesied that Christ would be born in Bethlehem. What was the context in which this prophecy was delivered? Darkness in the land. Compare to chapter 5 verses 9 though 12. Witchcraft was prevalent and spells were being cast in the land. The Messiah was coming to bring light in darkness.

Also look At Jeremiah 23:5 about The prophecy that Christ would come from the line of King David. What was the context in which that prophecy was delivered? Darkness in the land. Look at verses 13-14 in that same chapter. Baal worship was prevalent.

Take a look at Hosea 11:1-2. It was prophesied that Christ would spend time in Egypt as a child and come out of Egypt. The very next verse mentions the context in which this prophecy was delivered. The people were sacrificing to Baal at the time this prophecy was delivered.

What’s my point? When you consider Christmas and Christ’s birth do you think in context of Christ coming into this world to defeat principalities and powers and spiritual forces of darkness?

Almost every time there was an old testament prophecy of Christ’s birth and coming kingdom it was mentioned in contrast to the worship of Satan and Baal and witchcraft.

This is darkness to light. This is why Q repeatedly re-posted Ephesians 6:10-18 reminding us of the spiritual battle against forces of darkness.

You are on the side of light. You are on the side of the victor. When you consider Christ’s birth think of it in this context that Christ came into the world to defeat these powers of darkness and it is our job to stand firm against these powers of darkness and their evil servants.

We will see dark to light in the United States. We must pray for it and we must fight for it.
