It's called the shadow..thing is we don't see our shadow self..only mirrored in others. To the pure all things are pure...that's what we have to tackle using the mirror of others to see them..the story of the monster with hundreds of snake heads? That's your shadow. Jung himself wrote many books on the subject. Should be required learning at school. A child picks up so much from others he later regards as part of him. Watch a child watching TV ..they are oblivious to all around them that hero that villian becomes part of them ....this false self has to be revealed and discarded so you are born again as an individual..your true self.

This is the quest we are all on..from lifetime to lifetime .it's hard because our egos do not want this to happen. It protects from the truth that would mean ego would lose its place..the tyrant.. it puts up walls and buffers so people are blinded to their own faults although others can see them clearly.
