Companies can still decide to mandate it individually though, right? I've got a couple of family members that are still terrified of this.
Yeah, I think so. But they may be opening themselves to a big liability. This will make more companies balk on it for sure.
Yes if you as a company demand vaccination I think it would be fair for the employee to request you be liable for any damages that may occur. I think if an employee wanted that in writing it would stop most small to medium sized employers. Again supply and demand. If they need workers badly enough they’ll do whatever it takes to get the employee. On the flip side if there’s lines and lines of people waiting for work….well Tata!
Yes, the reason the SC ruled this way is because precedent for mandates were held up by cities or state control.
The most precedent there is, is by a city to mandate it in a health emergency like NYC.
It’s not a federal precedent. Well it is now for healthcare that takes Medicare.
But yes individual and private companies can mandate, they have even more power than cities do to mandate it.
