If you had the policy in place for two years they have to pay even for suicide. Not sure about canada but in the US suicide is a payable death after 2 years in force.
This is in France, though not sure that makes a difference. In addition and FTA: The insurance company justified the refusal of payment to the family by stating that the use of experimental medication or treatments, including Corona injections, is expressly excluded from the insurance contract. This was taken to court and it's the court that likened it to suicide.
In the US suicide is allowed after two years. So you can take out a policy, wait two years, kill yourself and it pays. If you do it in the first two years nothing.
Except the insurance company rejected the claim on the basis of experimental drugs not being covered. It was the court that made the suicide connection.
I am only talking about the united states. Not France. You can't do that here. Plus every life insurance company was coercing people to take the vaccines including mine.
A contract could exclude anything that you agreed. If it says no payment for death on Tuesday then you better be careful on Tuesday. In this case they likely didn't want to pay for guinea pigs or crack heads.
I used to sell insurance and never saw such a clause. Maybe now, but in general after two years, suicide is payable. Only time they won't pay is if you are committing a crime and get shot by a cop.

How interesting that they knew to exclude that... or they changed the contracts
Would they try to apply that to pot I wonder? (For a friend of course)

Considering this guy is super wealthy and the size of the death benefit, I’m sure even in US there would have been extra suicide non payment clauses.
Still may have a clause on EUAs.
