I know there were a number of Freedom rallies today around the world, so I thought I'd share my thoughts on today's rally in Toronto.
Considering the weather (very cold, windy and cloudy), the crowd was huge. I believe there were many thousands of people in attendance. I couldn't get a more accurate feel for the crowd size since I was in the middle and I'm not that tall. This was definitely the largest rally I've attended so far. A drone was flying above so hopefully there will be a video.
There were a number of speakers and the crowd was pumped. There were also a lot of very creative signs. My favourite was "Shouldn't I be dead by now?"
After the rally, they announced that we would march through downtown, along Bloor, Yonge and Queen streets (the main streets in Toronto). I was encouraged by the number of cars stuck in traffic that were honking their horns and waving to us in support. The crowd stretched as far as I could see. I didn't make it back to the starting point as I was just too cold.
Overall, I was very impressed by the turnout and enthusiasm. The crowd was quite diverse and there were a lot of younger people there (20's and 30's). There were also a number of parents with their children. They will be able to tell their grandchildren how they took part in the 2022 protests. I sense a change in momentum. It's almost as if people have had enough and aren't going to take it anymore. I look forward to hearing how the other rallies went today.
I was there as well and good summary. Took the subway there and back with a couple of friends with no masks and no one seemed to care. We have had the harshest and longest lockdowns and restrictions (except perhaps Quebec) in North America. Times up - waiting to cheer the truckers on and hoping they bring even more awareness!
I wonder how many of us on this board were there today?
We need a great awakening flag to rally around!
Courage is contagious!
Keep going Canada!
You're welcome. Yes, the speakers got the crowd motivated. The event and the size of the crowd surpassed my expectations.
Well it wasn't advertised very well! I live an hour drive away and had no idea and have been hoping for a protest. I'm not on FB or the like but thought a invite would show up here...
I heard about it on Gab and also from a number of email distribtion lists I'm on. You may want to check out Randy Hillier's website. There were rallies all over the world today.
Thanks Fren!
I forgot to mention freecanada.win. It's a great site for Canada specific content.
