The freemans and the Russells have huge influence over the Mormons. They even tried to make a Mormon rite of Freemasonry(it’s in the links)
Joseph Smith was a Freemason
Russellites are the jehovah witnesses. Charles Taze Russell. He apparently was a freemason. Joe Smith started the mormons after Sidney Rigdon shared a manuscript stolen from a print shop from which the book of mormon was made. Joe Smith was a mason also, but tried to combine it with 'christian' teachings. For that the masons turned on him at the Carthage jail where the mob was pissed at him for his teachings and polygamous ways with their very young 'women'. He called out to the masons in the crowd 'my god my god is there no help for the widows son?'. They refused to help him. He and his brother Hyrum were shot, and Joe jumped from a window towards a well where he died. Mormons headed west were they could practice polygamy away from the eyes of the government. Brigham Young (my GGGgrandfather via wife #17 Harriet Barney) led the way. With the information available today on the internet, there really is no reason for anyone to follow the mormon church teachings other than perhaps they like the social aspect of it. There is no salvation in their teachings. Of note: Neither the Jehovah Witnesses nor the Mormons have a christian cross on their churches. They have a severe aversion to it, and both denominations deny the deity of Christ. If you are a member - Run, don't walk, to the nearest exit. I did.
