The scriptures are the words of God amd reading what he says is how we come to know him.
Many will say “don’t take it out of context” yet they miss stand alone truths meaning it does not need anything else to go with it to tell you something about himself. Usually you find a colon (:) after it if a semi colon is there (;) then you might need the rest of it to grasp his meaning.
While there are some "standalone" truths in the Bible, understanding context is a critical part of proper exegesis. As a said in my post below, 2 Chronicles 7:14 is frequently misunderstood and misapplied.
Another one is Jeremiah 29:11. In that one, Jeremiah is writing to the Israelites who are in Babylonian exile. In the previous verse he says that “When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my good promise to bring you back to this place."
As Christians, we are expected to rightly divide the Word of Truth, and that includes have a proper understanding of both content and context.
With the place I rightly divided on this post I clearly show God is not speaking to Solomon alone! It is to be applied to all Christians that he’d do for them what he’d do for Solomon as he doesn’t do for one and it do for another… no respect or of persons! Not choosing one above another’
