Devil's advocate: what if Russia is truly just like China where dissent results in your arrest or gulags or your families threatened?

And/or this post could be the work of Russian propaganda?

For the most part no, US and Canada are not doing that. Are they doing it to some degree? Yes. To the degree that China is doing? Absolutely not. Allegedly Russia doing? I don't know
