Too many fucking Americans more concerned with the happenings of events in other countries, those who struggle in other countries, than their very own right here in America. Society has long ago conditioned people to show more compassion to those outside the home, outside one's nation, than their very own.
It even began in the churches through mission trips happening overseas instead of here at home, school foreign trips to see how their nations do things (for instance, our local paper just reported on how students from one of our local colleges are going to South Africa to learn about agriculture... they live in SOUTH DAKOTA where ag is our #1 source of income here; learning about how they farm in SA isnt going to help you here in the US when the temps, soil, environment, equipment, etc is COMPLETELY different)
I see and hear far too many people talking about helping those out of the nation when they arent even willing to get involved in their own community. Hell, they wont even help their next door neighbor out with simple tasks.
