...just messing, if you're here and not a troll, you already are! You're a volunteer in the truest sense of the word. You're helping save our country and world from the greatest danger it's ever faced. You're less appreciated than even returning Vietnam soldiers and you're brave enough to face not enemy bullets but the daily scorn of your ignorant contemporaries. Your physical life is not in constant danger, true, but your soul and spirit are under continuous attack. Hold your head high and don't give up! You really are a foot soldier in this battle, even if you don't have a uniform or commission. This is an information war and it looks different from anything before, but you're a valiant soldier nonetheless.

Sorry bro. Anti-war protester in the 60's and early 70's. Got my number, didn't want to run, served my 6 in the reserve. Out in 78. Ex NYPD after that (5yrs), and medic for 10 more yrs. Been there - done that. Been shot at and blooded.
Its a different generation. OP is NOT wrong for thier generation.
No, Nam and being shot at are not the same, but to these kids it is as intense as we felt (minus the blood and guts). But then any WW2 vet could say that about us.
OP did not knock or minimize Vietnam vet experiences - he merely compared them to what he knows within his generation. For him, right now it is as intense. Don't minimize that by saying to him - you can't compare what they are going through to what we did.

I’m a “zoomer”, and it’s been tough to say the least. I think a huge part of people my age don’t see much of a future, or don’t even care to plan for the future as it seems soo soooo uncertain.
It is not “as intense”.
It’s ridiculous to think it’s even remotely close.
You’re wrong, op is too.
Let the down come, there’s no comparison.
100%. BTDT on foreign soil. OP def wasn’t denigrating Vietnam vets. It was a BS DS war like AFG, IRQ, etc.
I'm not doing this for appreciation, kid.
Oh but I appreciate you so much. Thank you for everything.
