And never ever engage with anyone who responds (positive or negative)!
I think it's important to engage, especially with negative comments, or positive comments. Those comments give you the opportunity to really make your point with supporting sources and references. They also make you real.
This is why Wikipedia is such a target-rich environment. It's worldwide, not local. Each article's Talk Page is where you can debate with other Wikipedians on parts of the article.
