Imagine being in DC, wanting statehood, when in a surprise a stuffed omnibus bill grants you statehood (not like they haven't already been pretending they are anyways, flying 51 star flags all over the city).
Proving fraud and taking statehood away could start a massive inorganic riot that makes 2020 look like 2014. Even still it should be done if they do that.
What I want to know is if Democrats get statehood by one vote, what happens when the next Republican majority Congress votes to take away their statehood citing the constitution? You'll have one side citing the part where states may not lose statehood and the other side citing the fact that Washington DC was never meant to be a state at all (hence the District of Columbia part, Columbia being the name of the unitary state that was proposed as an alternative to The United States during it's founding)
I remember from school, when they actually taught you about government, that DC was not made a state so it was neutral and as a state, couldn't have considerably more power via corruption from power hungry dicks. Man our Founders were smart people. Me? Not so much.
