I don't have any faith in Luzerne County. I grew up there and saw firsthand how corrupt from top to bottom that county actually is. Especially their juvenile criminal system that locked up kids for what can be considered a meme in today's terms.
Judge Michael T. Conahan got released from federal prison due to the covid hysteria after serving 6 of his 17 years. Judge Mark Ciavarella senteced to I think 28 years thankfully got denied a sentence reduction partially due to the fact he still claims he never committed a crime.
I unfortunately had the pleasure of being one of the thousands of kids that Ciavarella got a kickback for. Their short sentences will never pay back the multiple middle and high school students that took their own lives.
Sorry for the rant, I will more than likely have something to say about the kids for cash scandal until the day I die.
I for one appreciate your rant (and sorry for what you went through) - your comments lead me to research the case against Ciavarella, someone I had never heard of before. I’m not from PA, but now more inclined to support Larocca after learning of this backstory.
Thanks, having a good supportive family goes a long way in miserable times like those.
To be honest I dont know anything about Larocca other than reading his web page. I moved 2000 miles away after college so I don't follow local NE PA politics hardly at all.
Hopefully if elected he means what he says and isn't swayed by money or threats.
I am so sorry for what you went through. I know that doesn't correct the damage done, but you have my love and support and I will keep you in my prayers.
Thank you I appreciate it. It was by no means fun but I made it out just fine. Being stubborn and living by the motto what doesn't kill you makes you stronger seemed to work. I just feel bad for the kids and families that let it destroy their lives.
No need to apologize. Going through something like that gives you the energy to fight it that other people simply can’t imagine.
Your username suggests Texas. No need to feel bleak about anything—with a spirit like yours! Add Texas to that, and you’re unstoppable! (Lots to do there, too, on similar fronts!)
Yep, one of the most corrupt counties in PA... probably the US. This is where the Kids for Cash scandal happened a few years back.

You are a very strong person, God is very much with you, you are blessed and your attitude and strength are inspiring. Thank you.
