Let's say we were born in this option. How would we know otherwise? It's like eve and the apple. Once eaten she was able to tell they were naked. Basically implying that they were ignorant of their own nature. If we had no ability to appreciate wouldn't that be the same has not knowing?
The one thing I struggle with is what's the point of free will? The only explanation I have is. It's an experiment to see what happens. Other than that I don't see why we couldn't start off with goodness and stay that way. Basically everywhere I go to research this. It always comes down to. "It had to be this way" but they never explain why
Is enslavement good? Because if you create a being and force it to do your will (even if that will is somehow objectively 'good'), that's slavery. If you love someone, you cannot make them your slave, even "for their own good".
I had it explained to me in these terms, and while imperfect as an analogy, it might help.
A man has a son whom he loves. The man teaches his son certain rules to live his best life. The son is rebellious and does not want to follow the father's rules. The son rejects the father and goes his own way, doing what is right in his own eyes. Because the father still loves the son, he lets him go(free will), but occasionally sends messages to him to reaffirm his love in hope of eventual reconciliation. By rejecting the 'best life' rules, the son freely chooses evil(sin) and must bear the consequences of that choice(death).
The good news in this world is that God already paid the price for our sins when Jesus died on the cross and through the resurrection promised us eternal life if we believe. May God grant you wisdom as you seek the truth.
So if eve never ate the apple would that be considered slavery? Because I'm the past there have been slaves who don't even know they are slaves because of the nature of the situation. That's all they knew. So if eve never ate the apple wouldn't that be slavery because God kept them ignorant before the apple?
Why don't even already have eternal life from the get go? Why were we created in the first place? The more I look into it, it seems like pyshical life is just the tutorial level and the after life is where life actually begins.
And then someone goes. "Don't lean on your own understanding, lean onto God". But we have to understand some things in order to function at life so are we not allowed to understand why we were created in the first place?
I definitely believe there is a god. I know we are in a fight of good and evil. But sometimes this circular logic gets to me.
So your saying love and joy is only worth it if there is pain and suffering?
The other option would be no free will, no joy, no goodness, no love, no ability to appreciate the lack of pain and suffering.
