My adult Sunday School class went a little off tracks talking about the recent school shootings. One of the gentlemen in the class stated he thought they were orchestrated and that something was just not right about them. I mentioned about how the wage worker who just turned 18 a couple of weeks before had money for two AR platforms, a pistol and body armor. I stated that you know in most of the major recent school shootings the FBI knew about the shooter in advance. What good does see something say something do?

Very good way to handle this. Bring in relevant facts regarding something specific, and let them think about it. Most are not ready for the big picture. Little by little.
That's my approach as well.
