We must NOT rejoice when our enemy is killing itself. Proverbs 24:17-18 Do not gloat when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart rejoice when he stumbles, or the LORD will see and disapprove, and turn His wrath away from him.
I disagree with that application, its talking about becoming like them and proud, thats why it mentions gloating. Psalms 58:10 says we will rejoice when His vengeance comes and wash our feet in the blood of the wicked. His judgments are fair and just and we rejoice when they come. That's a solid theme through the entire Bible, Revelation is the fulfillment of the saints crying out "how long must we wait?" at an all time high anticipating it.
The Beibs didn't fall and stumble with a fight coming up to where God may turn away His wrath on account of our behavior towards our personal enemies condition by means of humility on our end because we've become like them and need a lesson ourselves if you read the earlier part of that chapter roasting them and how to not be like that.
He's not my personal enemy, chose evil and it does seem God's wrath is on the move for some people. I'm here for it and I celebrate its arrival, I pray for it to come swiftly and let's get some justice in the life. If I dont see it before i pass, even so come Lord Jesus. But I won't be kept from celebrating what God seems fit and judges, that's different than watching someone I have to handle myself stumbling prior. Very different.
Rev 19:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? ... 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
We will be able to stand, on account of His righteousness imputed on us. We boldly go before the throne of grace. They anticipate His wrath coming and I know you do to. Don't let confusion rob you of rejoicing when it does come, I'm not saying this is it for sure yet, but you've gotta consider how backwards that thinking is from every time you actually see His wrath arrive.
A solid theme you see as purpose of His wrath, is to demonstrate His power, who He is. He'll withhold it if we are stealing the glory is what your verse is saying. He doesn't just blow off some steam, it serves a purpose of demonstrating He is Almighty God. The glory is all His.
but this person-justin beiber- is also a victim of an evil industry. He's hardly a powerful person. He's a controlled tool. A puppet of sinister forces. Should we really be nasty tools who attack others and hope for their pain? It doesn't seem right to me. Something about not focusing on the sliver in another's eye through the plank in our own?
That's the whole point though. I agree with you. It's God's glory, we don't attack people like him. God is the one attacking if it's His wrath. If God saw it fit and it's His judgement, in private or good company rejoice because the world won't understand.
If God wants to send Biebs through the furnace that he be tried and come out refined, that's His business. If God wants to publicly shame the evil imagery he's purpoted in some fashion like this and God really knows his heart and what he's done, it's His business.
As far as the sliver vs plank, that passage is to say if I judge you for being fat, and say you need to work on it but I'm fat too. You'll judge me according to the same means I've judged you. But if I'm not fat, I welcome that judgement cause I pass the test, and I'm righteous to judge the matter. So you shpuld listen. It just so happens the ones Jesus is speaking to don't cover the bases. It's not saying to not judge at all, it's saying you better have your stuff in order in that area if your gonna. I only use fat as an example as it's as the Bible puts it. A sin that's open before men. It can't be hidden.
I welcome judgement, so in context of this. If Beibs wants to judge me for my judgment of him being a pawn and a tool of the devils current system. I'm squeaky clean.
If any brother wants to judge me in the matter of attacking or hatred I very much welcome it. Paul said he'd rather the LEAST esteemed in the church to judge them then prayed for the destruction of their flesh that their soul may be saved in the day of Lord Jesus. That was saved folk dishonoring God's family as ambassadors to the world with incest within the church.
God expects us to be intellectually more critical than most think I believe, but less proactive in acting on it because a lot of it is absence of action. Hatred is sometimes just not choosing one. Akin to God hating Esau. It doesn't mean I attack. But if God did, He's righteous I'd be unrighteous to not rejoice in anything God's hand is on.
Whether it's God or not is the question.
