Nicotine in and of itself isn't inherently dangerous. If it were, there would be warnings on smoking cessation products. It's the other 200+ chemicals sprayed on cigarette tobacco.
You'd have to intentionally ingest a large amount of nicotine in a very short time, like a suicide attempt, for it to kill you. Most people get sick long before they get close to LD50. I've done it on a few Cuban cigars years back or too many nic lozenges in a short period of time. Too much of anything will kill you. Even water.
