Whoever wrote this did it for themselves as it's utterly tone deaf to the liberal position. It's the equivalent of saying: "calm down conservatives, no one's coming for your gun rights. etc. - mandatory checks for xyz, etc. etc.

I mean, good on ya, preaching to the converted, nothing wrong with that. Just seems pointless to word it as if it's some sort of a conceptual "win" over liberal thinking in this space.
