Backing up your phone in the cloud is not wisdom if you are looking to be protected from FBI intrusion..
If your phone has nothing but Angry Bird scores and text messages from your wife telling you to bring milk home, then, by all means, back it up with the corporations.
For those who carry important files on their phones, those items should also be encrypted, air-gapped and protected against damage somewhere safe that is off the phone On your phone, such files should be protected in different ways depending on the data and its purpose. Whatever the case, things you wish to preserve should not be considered preserved by leaving them on your phone only.
Some files, I don't care if the FBI obtains from me (they will do them no good) but I will personally be up shit creek without them. That is why they need to be backed up.
I suppose most people just use their smartphones to broadcast and record their location in real time to the government 24 hours a day, and their phones have no important files on them (just family photos, lists, porn, etc..) but if anybody here actually does have important files, it's good to see this story and be mindful.
It's a reminder that the FBI goes after phones, so backup what's important, If you aren't an important person, and if your stuff is mostly just garbage, then just realize you're carrying an electronic surveillance device and act accordingly--or do what most other people do and transmit all your information, your likes, dislikes, secrets, ideas, private thoughts, and fantasies to the computers that hoover up all that junk and use it to generate psych profiles of you, and to keep track of your personal contacts, and track your location in real time at all times. Whatever floats your boat.
Is your phone backed up??? Backed up where?? If you have a backup in the cloud, well, guess who has access to that backup…
