My buddies F150's engine just blew. They want $14,000. What's your point? And my corworkers 2022 Honda Ridgeline was just totalled.... b/c after 6 months they couldn't replace the tailgate..... waiting on parts.
It would have been longer if he didn't complain as loudly as he did. He got rear ended on his way to work on a rainy morning. There was substantial damage to the back of his truck. He'd only had it a few months at this point. They got it all fixed with exception of the tail gate. They just could not get that part in. Waited months and months. Was driving a rental around that entire time on the other dude's insurance tab. After a good number of calls on his part they just said fuck it and totaled it. I am scared of getting into any kind of accident right now with all this supply chain crap.
He started off with a small car, and at some point they had him in a SUV is all i know.
Your buddy took it to the dealership for service and they're charging nearly $10,000 to replace the engine? That's hard for me to believe, to be quite honest.
A replacement engine is between $2800-4500 depending on year, and that's a brand new engine. Rebuilts can be found far cheaper.
What exactly is your point, other than the fact your buddy isn't very bright?
You're right. Just googled it myself and the estimates i'm seeing are way below what he was saying. I'll check with him to see why the quotes are so way off. Oddly the best quote he got WAS from the dealership.
