Thank you, OP! Indeed! Giving (sincere) thanks and praise to God further opens us to the "indwelling" (joyful presence) of the One Eternal (see: PS 22:3). In this way - at the very least - we are further enabled to do what we do, in the NAME (in the character of; in the persona of; in the presence of; in the likeness of; as a witness of) our Lord Jesus.
I'm unaware that people become 'possessed' by the Holy Spirit (but would that be bad?) - like people are 'possessed' by unclean spirits. Yet, through (sincere) praise and thanksgiving, people become more loving, more enabled, more forgiving, more joyful, more strengthened, more humbled - yet more powerful and better prepared to do what they do for Christ.
God does NOT have some sort of ego problem. He has no need of our praise and thanksgiving. Yet this IS a way for us to welcome Him closer to us and to be one with us. God's indwelling can start with a simple "Good Morning, Lord! THANK YOU!" and He can draw closer as we give Him thanks for the MANY blessings and blessed people we are privileged to experience each day.
In case you were wondering: Yes. It can become a way of life. AMEN!
