1 John 1:8 is not an excuse for sin.
The proceeding verse: 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
How effective is the blood of Jesus Christ?
The next verse as well,
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we are cleansed from all unrighteousness, how much sin do we have?
1 John 1:8 is not an excuse to remain in sin, or to identify yourself as a sinner.
Galatians 5:17 KJV For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Bro, until you get rid your flesh and receive your eternal glorified body, you are at war, whether you want to hear it or not.
You only lie to yourself.
Galatians 5:17 is not an excuse to walk in the flesh.
You lie to yourself when you make excuse for sin, when you identify yourself as a sinner. You are not a sinner Andy. It is very common for Christians to identify as sinners and make excuse for sin, that is not the intent of even one verse of the Bible. We are called to perfection.
Galatians 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Galatians 5:17 is not and excuse to remain in sin, or in the flesh.
Romans 7 : 14 - 25
14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. 16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
21 I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. 22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.
