You didn't make a mistake. It was marketed to Christians alright. But the christianity it portrayed was "religion" and the stereotypes and the teachings and lessons were touchy-feely vs. any truth. The portrayal of the members in the church were the same way Hollywood has always portrayed Christians: hypocrites, greedy, self-serving, gossiping, etc.
That show was "religious" but not Christian. It was just mocking Christians.
