New Guinea is part of the ring of fire, a very active tectonic region. Not a surprise. They are lucky they were on the ground floor.

Agree, not saying this is, just be insane if some tech existed to influence / Create these type of events.

We know they can control / manipulate rain, and apparently 'steer' hurricanes. So just a step further to some other crazy things they may have figured out.
