This whole movement is made of individuals who have been guided to think for themselves in order to see the truths hidden in an entire existance of lies. I doubt there are any blind followers, blind followers are trapped in the current Matrix. I know the one finger symbolism has been used by Islamists but in the case of anons it's actually a poignant literal indicator that this individual is One of the Many who are united. It's previous baggage can be completely forgotten if it spreads memetically. This is probably why the media is fixating on it in this moment because it's such a simple reproducable symbol and they are rushing to stigmatize it before it does take hold. I'm neither urging nor condemning it but just to say it makes sense and if it spreads memetically, it would make sense.
