If this were true, they would have to have made 4.5 million blocks this way. And if this were true, we would find blocks with indentations from either fingers or hands, footprints, etc. And if this were useful, it would have been used not just in the pyramids, but elsewhere in the temples, etc. We have the quarries from those temples, however, where they were using natural stone. So, this would only have been used in ancient projects.
The pyramids are not built entirely of limestone. Inside the Great Pyramid (Cheops/Khafre) there are granite stones perfectly placed, some weighing 100-400 tonnes. These would have been quarried far away, and are finished with total precision, absolute perfection (seriously, I see the pyramids every day right, they are mindblowing). The problem is that we do not have in the archaeological record the tools necessary to produce these blocks. We don't know where they come from.
My personal theory is that the best of the pyramids (the three on the plateau) are extremely ancient, up to 70,000 of years old.
A big misconception they were built by slaves. Iirc have read that the nutritional fare alone required to facilitate people staying alive during the building would be hugely expensive. These guys were dedicated craftsmen
Fascinating. I'm in Egypt right now, actually!
