And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother. — John 11:19
It seems that it is nearly a weekly occurrence that I have find myself having a specific conversation with my son. He’s a perfectionist and often gets frustrated when he cannot get something right. His solution, as is human nature, is to simply give up and quit. He will put his hands at his side and huff really loud expressing his frustration.
That’s when I find myself telling him, “don’t give up yet. You have to keep trying.” We will go back and start over again. Sometimes he figures it out on his own. Other times, I find myself guiding him through the circumstance and helping him learn. In the end, he will continue to develop the mindset that he cannot give up that quickly.
Sometimes, things happen in life and the easy solution is to just give up. Like I said, it’s our human nature. We are often quick to lose hope, lose faith, and give up on the circumstance that has disrupted our life. We find ourselves in the same perspective as Mary and Martha. We feel like all hope is lost and things are over.
We may find ourselves at the end of our ability. There was little Mary and Martha could do in the situation. Lazarus was dead. Just because we find ourselves without options, it does not mean that we can give up on God! They experienced a miracle when they had given up.
Maybe you find yourself without any hope. Don’t forget how amazing our God is! Don’t give up on God yet! He is able to do amazing things when it seems all hope is lost. No matter what circumstances you face, keep the faith. Trust God and let Him do an amazing work for you.
