What color eyes would the mother need for the offspring to have blue eyes, that’d be a loose way of checking based on a photograph I would think, maybe someone has better insight on this, very striking similarities I must say
if I remember correctly, brwn/brwn can produce a blue eyed child, but blu/blu cannot produce a brwn eyed child.
I think that's right, you could be brunette with suppressed blue eyed genes, same with hair color

Blue eyes is iirc always recessive but somehow I had two kids with a brown eyed woman and they both have blue eyes.
Then again I'm an oddball case bc I have central heterochromia - blue eyes with a hazel ring around the iris. My mom also had brown eyes and dad blue.
