Deep rabbit hole there. I suggest reading up on common law (Law of the Land) vs civil law (Marine Admiralty Law). Some questions I would research is why The United States of America inforces corporate marine law on These United States of America which should be under common. Note: The and These. Another good question to research is when and for what reason we moved from common law to admiralty law.
