And I’m not being a smart ass here, or trying to prove anything, I’m genuinely curious as to why there hasn’t been even a small protest In our streets. Americans are not unfamiliar with protesting, although certainly not as keen on it as the Europeans.
A friend who lives in Greece asked me this and I came up with several answers, but they seemed a little lame.
What say you?
There was an analysis by a historian, who was a general officer, of three wars: Korea, WWII and Vietnam. In that paper, based on equipment/supplies and so forth, he stated that during WWII, statistically, about 30% of the soldiers actually fired on the enemy. During Korea, that rose to roughly 50%, and during Vietnam, the number was 95%. Yet, WWII was "the greatest generation", Korea was forgotten, and Vietnam was baby killer losers. When I got out of service, after about two years of flying helos as a CSAR crewman, with a PUC and other decorations, I was spit on (in 68 also, after Tet), my parents wanted nothing to do with me, the VFW told me to leave their facility (we want nothing to do with you), likewise the American Legion, and the VA told me to go back where I came from (San Diego). At the time, the druggos were rampant, and the only places vets could be in peace were military towns or out in the woods, away from everyone. Those who would stand in support were either in the South or they were expunged. LBJ's programs gave support to those who wouldn't work; I lived on the street for months, sleeping in doorways of businesses, on cardboard and under newspapers.
The only thing that got me out of that was the determination that those cocksuckers won't beat me. Americans in general don't have that determination. They didn't after Korea. After Vietnam, or any of the other bullshit wars the politicians have immersed us in. Only a few have that, and they aren't necessarily those who join the military.
The idea that 'patriots' are too busy working is bunk: most simply don't want to be bothered. They are willing to simply accept the promises that vets and certain others won't. Many will piss and moan 'it's just not right', but action is out of the question. Others join BS organizations such as III%, which would go out and get killed by skilled soldiers in short order.
Even now, with this election crap going on, most will do nothing. Hell, most people haven't even got a month supply of food. Millions see an AR and wet their pants. People on here talk about the hundreds of thousands, or millions, of hunters ready to defend their country. Bullshit. Most would simply lay down their guns and get on their knees, however much they talk shit.
So the answer to the question really is simple: Americans are generally chickenshits who will cower when a bullet flies on by.
Well said.
