Besides the rumors surrounding Lise Meitner, there was also a German Nazi scientist named Schitke who was the subject of alternative research on WW2 about 10 or 15 years ago.
Interestingly, very little of those online conversations about Schitke are easily searchable today. Anyway, the contention at the time was that Schitke developed the atomic bomb for Hitler but that Hitler declined to use it in Germany's defense due to its effects on genetics.
The story went that by spring 1945, Hitler was pissed with Hirohito, feeling that Japan had failed to fulfill its promises to Germany... and as part of negotiations for his safe escape to Argentina, Hitler agreed to give this bomb to the United States with the intention that it would be used on Japan. The story was that this was the bomb used on Nagasaki.
Whether any part of the story was true, I can't say. I just remember this fellow Schitke getting a lot of attention at the time.
