My husband recently had surgery. When asked if he was OK with blood transfusions if needed, he said NO, because they couldn't guarantee he wouldn't get vaxxed blood. The nurses rolled their eyes at him, and he signed a paper stating his denial of blood.

One Dr informed my husband that he believed the surgeon messed up, and he may need another surgery. His daily RBC count was already low. I called a blood center to find out what to do in case of another surgery. Our son is type O- blood. The surgeon would have to write my husband a prescription for our son to take to the blood center to donate that blood directly to my husband. The process takes 3 days for it to be ready for use. Just FYI. (He ended up not needing another surgery, at least as of now.)
